Galleri Monitor 26/4-28/4 Johan Carlsson Ström visar nya målningar från projektet Distraktioner. Fredag: 16:00-20.00 Lörd och sönd 12:00-16:00 Carlsson Ström skapar bilder med fokus på måleri, hans arbete kombinerar minnesbilder med bilddokumentation. I den måleriska serier Distraktioner har han undersökt magiskt tänkande och fascinationen för det förskräckliga som en form av morbid eskapism. Övernaturliga fenomen möter true crime såväl som barnets rädslor i en balans mellan dröm, fantasi och verklighet. SKETCH-LEVEL STORIES - Kinga Molińska, Julia Florentzi In our artistic practice, we balance between anger and patience. Those feelings can sometimes be present in the moments of sketching, preparation and delving into the materiality of the artwork. Sometimes it’s hard to notice and describe the difference between a finished piece and a sketch. Sketches are our notes, seeds for something that will grow, be interpreted, and defined in the future, distant or close. Showing the process of art-making is rarely a part of exhibiting. Bringing the studio to the exhibition space, making it public, and exposing the artistic failures (sometimes a lot of them) and drafts of ideas is our way of challenging the classic exhibition format. The pieces shown in “Sketch level stories” are parts of an ongoing process, which grow and expand organically through artistic practice. Opening hours: 24/7 12-16.04.2024 Welcome!

Collide The second-year photography students at HDK-Valand present the group exhibition ”Collide”. During the spring term, they have been working on individual projects with the exhibition space as the starting point, where a multitude of different expressions, techniques, methods, thoughts, and ideas have been explored. The result is therefore 18 unique photographic entrances that, on April 12, meet in a ”collision”. The title of the exhibition is not just a representation of the collision that arises from the students’ creative visions, but it also serves as a reminder of the societal and cultural benefits that different ideas, thoughts, and opinions can indeed bring about in today’s world. Vernissage on the 12th of april (16-22) at Gallery Monitor & Rotor2, HDK-Valand.
